Jamaican, Laken Tomlinson a college football player from Duke was selected by the Detroit Lions on Thursday with the 28th overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. Tomlinson grew up in Jamaica before migrating to Chicago with his mother and three siblings at 11 years old. An uncle introduced him to American football, which he excelled in. For college Tomlinson chose Duke because of it’s academic record. At Duke, Tomlinson double majored in evolutionary anthropology and psychology while starting in 52 games. He became an All-American as a senior and wants to go to medical school to become neurosurgeon.
