JOB TITLE: Dean – The College Of Education & Leadership

LOCATION:  Northern Caribbean University, Mandeville, Manchester

DESCRIPTION: Plan, direct, coordinate research, manage instructional and student administration and services; Manage the budget and guide the strategic direction of the College; Provide quality learning opportunities to assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations on a semester basis in a Christ-centered educational environment in accordance with the philosophy and teachings of the Seventh-day Adventist Church; Successful full-time applicants will be expected to provide academic advising for students enrolled in the MA in Education and PhD in Education programs, chair thesis and dissertation committees and participate in university-wide committees.

QUALIFICATIONS: Should have a doctorate in Education, and demonstrated successful teaching experience; Seven years of teaching experience at the University level; Expertise in at least one research orientation, and experience chairing and guiding the thesis and dissertation process; Demonstrated ability to design and effectively teach graduate level courses; Experience working in low and/or middle income countries; The ability and desire to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary group of colleagues; Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and carry out research in evaluating education programs; Proven ability to generate grant funding; Competence in at least one research orientation and related software; Competence in the supervision of graduate students; Should be knowledgeable of and committed to the philosophy, principles and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist church in education and give witness to these values in his/ her professional and Christian life; Knowledge of principles and processes for providing quality assurance in an academic institution; Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource management, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources; Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and teaching design; Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, performance evaluation, and personnel information systems; Excellent communication skills, ability to write clear, concise and logical reports; Excellent analytical, organizational and decision making skills; Resourceful and well organized; Ability to establish credibility and be decisive — but be able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities; Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
