Day 237 of 365 Things to Do, See & Eat in Jamaica – Jumping for Joy over the Jamaican Patty

So many patties, so little time! The Jamaican patty comes in as many types as people, so it isn’t hard to find a favorite filling. Often sold at vendor stands throughout the island and in restaurants that cater to tourists, the very best patties are homemade. Typically, a Jamaican patty uses some kind of ground meat filling inside of a pastry similar to a samosa or empanada. The seasonings are what make these patties quintessentially Jamaican, however. You can find patties stuffed with pork, chicken, lobster, and vegetarian ingredients. All of them feature the spicy aroma of local spices and curry. Servied with a side dish of your choice, the patty makes the meal!
