Wells Fargo and Company, an American multinational financial services firm, has named Jamaican-born Wayne Hewett to serve on its board of directors. Hewett was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and moved to Miami, Florida, with his family when he was six years old. Specifically, Hewett will be a member of the board’s Human Resources Committee and its Risk Committee. Wells Fargo and Company is a community-based, diversified financial services firm with assets totaling US$1.9 trillion.
Hewett has the reputation of being an experienced executive who has worked in numerous industries in positions of senior leadership. Currently, Hewett is chair of DiversiTech Corporation, a top maker and supplier of components and related products for the heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration industry. He is also on the board of directors of Home Depot and serves as a member of its Audit Committee and Leadership Development and Compensation Committee. Hewett was the CEO of Klockner Pentaplast Group from 2015 to 2017, an international supplier of packaging for industries that include pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food, and electronics. Prior to that position, he was CEO of Arysta LifeScience Corporation, and before that spent over 20 years with the General Electric Company.
Commenting on the new board member, Betsy Duke, chair of the Wells Fargo board, Hewett is a proven leader with extensive experience in business processes and operations and has executed strategic initiatives in complicated operating environments. This experience makes him an outstanding addition to the board as the firm focuses on the achievement of operational excellence, she added. Wells Fargo president and CEO Tim Sloan noted that Hewett’s unique combination of business and strategic skills add to the breadth of skills and experience on the board. Sloan said he is looking forward to working with Hewett on the transformation of Wells Fargo.
