The temperature was 98 degrees, but the heat didn’t bother the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival crowds in New York as they enjoyed the wonders of Jamaican culture, food, music, performance art, and crafts at one of the biggest Caribbean Food Festivals of the year. Musical performers included dancehall artiste Dexta Daps, soca star Rupee,Reggae Ambassadors Third World, and others during the all-day event. There was also a performance by comedian Pretty Boy Floyd and cultural presentations at the Western Union Cultural Stage. Roy Wilkins Park was filled with the aromas of jerk chicken, curry chicken, oxtail, fried corn and natural juices, as patrons dined on various jerk dishes at the Grace Jerk Cook-Off and Culinary Demonstration. Many vendors from the city came to showcase their best Jamaican cuisine, including Yardies, Mama’s Cooking, Mr. Cee Jerk Center, Caribbean Coms and Benash International LLC. Here are some photo highlights from Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival New York. We have also posted over 300 photos on our facebook page.
