The Byars Firm is pleased to announce that we have created our Immigration Legal Clinic. Our Immigration Legal Clinic was created to help indigent individuals who are in need of immigration services. In our practice we meet a large number of individuals each week who need to apply for their permanent residence i.e., “green card”, or other immigration benefits so that they can work and support their families. However the number one reason why these individuals do not apply for their benefits is the cost. They simply do not have the money to proceed with their case or it would take them a very long time to accrue the money to apply for their immigration benefits. Our Immigration Legal Clinic was created specifically to help these individuals to apply for their benefits so that they can have legal status and support their families. In this month’s article we will briefly discuss how the Clinic works and how you can receive services through the Clinic.
Question 1: Does the Immigration Legal Clinic provide legal services on all immigration cases?
Answer: The Immigration Legal Clinic provides legal representation on permanent residence “green card” cases, citizenship cases, removal of the conditions on a two-year green card, replacement of a lost, destroyed, or expired green card, and some deportation matters. In addition to these cases the Immigration Legal Clinic will provide services on other immigration cases if we believe that the Clinic will be able to provide effective assistance to the client. If you would like to know if the Clinic can help you please contact our office at 678-736-5600.
Question 2: Is it expensive to receive legal representation through the Immigration Legal Clinic?
Answer: The Immigration Legal Clinic was designed specifically to help those individuals who have limited financial resources and they are in need of legal representation. The Clinic will assess each individual’s case to determine if the individual is eligible to receive immigration benefits and the individual’s financial resources.
Question 3: What do I need to do to receive legal representation through the Immigration Legal Clinic?
Answer: To receive legal representation through the Immigration Legal Clinic you must contact our office at 678-736-5600 and ask to make an appointment for the Jamaican Immigration Clinic. At the Clinic we are able to discuss your case with you at our office, over the phone, or by Skype. Our Clinic charges a consultation fee of $50 for the first appointment. Thereafter, if you are eligible for immigration benefits and you have limited financial resources the Clinic will offer you a reduced fee for your case. The Clinic will make an assessment of reduced legal fees at the individual’s appointment. The Clinic reserves the right to decline representation of cases where the individual does not meet the Clinic’s requirements. The Clinic also reserves the right to change the amount of the consultation fee at its discretion at any time.
The Immigration Legal Clinic has limited space each month. Therefore if you need immigration help or if you have questions, contact our office at 678-736-5600 and make an appointment through the Immigration Legal Clinic. The code word is “Jamaican.” You may also send an email to [email protected]. We look forward to meeting with you.
