I have been reading this book and I am amazed at the depth of the compilation. Mary Hanna has gone through great lengths to capture the themes and spirit of 50 outstanding books by Jamaican authors. Her writing is crisp and knowledgeable, her tone respectful but never compromising. I am pleased to recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good writing and would like an informed view of contemporary Jamaican works.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mary Hanna, author of the ebook “Jamaica Writes”, was born in Jamaica and attended Wolmer’s School. She is a writer and teacher in Kingston, with a PhD. from the Department of Literatures in English at the University of the West Indies, Mona. Hanna writes a column for Bookends in The Ja-maica Sunday Observer reviewing recent texts by Caribbean authors under the editorship of Sharon Leach. Her ebook is a collection of 50 of her reviews from the past seven years. They celebrate Jamaica’s 50th and point the way forward to new developments in Jamaican literature.
