How To Make Kurma (known as mithai in Guyana).

Kurma is a wonderful dessert snack during Divali celebrations, sold by street vendors and something that’s very popular in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana where there’s a huge Indian influence on the region’s food. Kurma as it’s known in Trinidad and Tobago and mithai as it’s known in Guyana is a delicious fried dough snack which is coated in a lovely sugar glaze, flavored with ginger and cinnamon.

You’ll Need…

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoon butter
1 cup evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
thick slice of ginger
1/2 cinnamon stick

Veg oil for frying.
