The Sun Always Shines Above the Clouds is the autobiography of Claudette Smith’s life growing up in the Caribbean Island of Jamaica. Claudette, who has always been a private individual, has unveiled her life growing up in Jamaica from the tender age of seven to her departure to the United States of America at the age of twenty-seven.

Claudette, who is a citizen of the United States, is currently finishing her last year of college, where she is pursuing a degree in Business/Information Systems. She is an IT Professional with nine years experience under her belt and a Certified Systems Engineer in her field.

Wow, this was quite a story. The Sun Always Shines Above the Clouds is a heartbreaking tale. Despite the constant turmoil in the life of Claudette, she perseveres. Even though she was abused as a child, she kept a positive outlook on life. I couldn’t put this book down. I just kept reading and reading in anticipation of learning that something wonderful would finally happen to Claudette. My heart poured out to her. This is an inspiring story. She has more tenacity than anyone I have every known. I recommend this book to everyone.

This is a real coming of age story, a motivational, inspirational view of what it feels like to be a misfit. I found myself identifying with her every step of the way through this book, from the father who wasn’t much more than a sperm donor to the stepmother she could never connect with to the boys in school who gave her grief and the family that never really seemed to want her. Readers will find this story pulling at their heartstrings, and page after page they’ll find themselves falling in love with character and understanding that it was only her own strength that kept the sun shining. This really was an interesting read. This book should be shown to anyone who had a hard life growing up. Claudette, the main character and author of the book, had such a great outlook on life. No matter what came her way with the abuse and constant moving around she did not complain once. No whining, yelling, nothing! I do not know that I would be so at ease with the stresses she encountered. So many people would give up and just figured the world owed them something. Not Claudette. She is an inspiration to many.

Wow…when I first started reading this book and all of the turmoil going on in the main character’s life, I hoped this was fiction. I went back to read about the book and found out it was the author’s life. How shocking. The author, Claudette Smith, writes her story so well that you feel like you are right there along with her. You feel sad for her and see what a strong child, young girl, and young woman she truly is. She is a beautiful soul who is a remarkable person.

Oh my goodness, I can’t believe how close I felt to this author. This book, written by Claudette Smith, tells the story of my life but with a few different turns and obstacles.
“The Sun Always Shines Above the Clouds” is a treasure to read. It is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. It is an inspiration to those of us who lived tough lives and those who are heading in that direction.
If we believe in a stronger power, in faith, and in our own being then we can rise above any barrier we face. Claudette Smith brought my past to life again; she made me cry but she made me realize how strong I have been throughout the years.

She suffered abuse from the people that were suppose to care and protect her. It isn’t any wonder she had such a hard time with relationships after witnessing her fathers disastrous love life. This book will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next.Some people that faced the troubles that Claudette did would of turned into a bitter person. Claudette rose above that. This is simply a great book! With each turn of the page I was further entralled and wanted to know more about the character, what was going to happen to her and how she was going to keep plugging through her next disappointment, betrayal and difficult experience.
No matter what she goes through, in the end, she remains true to herself and is determined to do what she has to do to make for a better life for herself. It is exciting to read of all of her disappointments and sorrows, but to also learn about how she was able to move forward. I enjoyed this book very much and will likely read it again and again. Reading through, The Sun Always Shines Through the Clouds left me feeling like I was walking alongside Claudette through her entire narration. This is such an honest and heart filled autobiography, that was at times so uninhibited and honest that I wondered if there was nothing the authoress was afraid to confront.
Reading how Claudette changed as she grew was a privilege, this was certainly a young lady that grew up to be a very proud and strong woman despite all the obstacles in her life. Through every relationship Claudette never forgot what it was she wanted or where she was going.
The Sun Always Shines is a one of a kind autobiography that will benefit many readers.
