Day 283 of 365 Things to Do, See & Eat in Jamaica – Retreat to the Swift River

Located in the small farming town of Swift River, the Swift River Guesthouse offers privacy and relaxation with all the essential amenities expected for an enjoyable stay right on the water. The town offers a charming mountain environment just ten minutes from Hope Bay and 25 minutes from Port Antonio. The river flows from its source in the Blue Mountains for 30 miles to enter the sea at Hope Bay. The guesthouse is the last in town; there are no neighbors or developments nearby, so there is total privacy in a lush green setting. Visitors have direct access to trails along the river or up into the mountains. On site, guests may take lessons in Kemetic Yoga. There are weekly dances in the town square where Jamaica’s rural party scene can be enjoyed. In accordance with the Rastafari faith of the hosts, the indoor kitchen is vegetarian, while an outdoor kitchen is available for guests wanting to cook other foods. The host lives at the property and is happy to give guided tours of the area and its many events.
