Philip Rose, deputy director of tourism for the Americas at the Jamaica Tourist Board, has received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Jamaica’s tourism industry.
Rose received the award at the 12th Annual Unique Caribbean American Heritage Month and Culture Awards on June 28, 2026, at Colony West Golf Club in Tamarac, Florida. Elizabeth Burns, founder and president of Unique Creations By Liz, presented the award.
The recognition comes after more than two decades of Rose working in tourism and promoting Jamaica in major international markets.
A career with the Jamaica Tourist Board
Rose joined the Jamaica Tourist Board more than 20 years ago and has held several senior positions within the organization.
Before becoming deputy director of tourism for the Americas, he served as regional director for the United States and was responsible for sales and marketing in the Northeast. The region is a major source of visitors to Jamaica.
He also served as regional director of Canada. During his time in that role, Canada recorded its highest visitor arrivals to Jamaica.
In April 2023, the Jamaica Tourist Board appointed Rose deputy director of tourism, Americas, with responsibility for the United States, Caribbean and Latin America. His role covers key markets that contribute visitors to Jamaica.
Focus on Jamaica tourism
Rose’s work has included destination sales, marketing and efforts to strengthen Jamaica’s connections with travelers in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean.
His work has also included digital and social media strategies as well as initiatives focused on Jamaica’s diaspora.
The diaspora has long been an important part of Jamaica’s tourism market. Rose has supported efforts to connect Jamaicans living overseas with the island and its tourism industry.
His responsibilities have also involved working with tourism professionals and industry partners across the Americas.
Mentoring the next generation
In addition to his work in tourism marketing and sales, Rose has taken part in guest lectures, speaking engagements and other activities aimed at supporting future tourism professionals.
His work with industry stakeholders has given him opportunities to share his experience with people entering or advancing in the tourism sector.
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes both his work in Jamaica’s tourism industry and his involvement in the wider Caribbean tourism community.
The Unique CAHM and Culture Awards
The Unique Caribbean American Heritage Month and Culture Awards were established 12 years ago by Unique Creations By Liz.
The annual awards recognize individuals and organizations for their leadership and service to their communities. The program also raises awareness of National Caribbean American Heritage Month.
Rose joins a list of previous Lifetime Achievement Award recipients that includes former Florida Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam, Broward College President Torey Alston, Jamaica Tourist Board Chairman John Lynch and former Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank Ortis.

Rose’s award adds another recognition to a career that has included senior tourism roles in several major markets.
From his early work with the Jamaica Tourist Board to his current position overseeing tourism activities across the Americas, his career has focused on promoting Jamaica as a destination and building relationships within the travel industry.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented as part of this year’s Unique Caribbean American Heritage Month and Culture Awards in South Florida.
