Achieving a personal best time of 12.58 seconds, Jamaica’s Danielle Williams added a surprise to Jamaica’s IAAF medal count, winning the gold in women’s 110m hurdles, Jamaica’s ninth medal overall. Williams, 22, defeated a fast field of competitors in the competition. This was the second World Championship event for Williams, who has joined Brigitte Foster Hylton in being the only two Jamaicans to ever win the event.
