Dr. Sanneta Myrie, Miss Jamaica World and fourth runner-up in the Miss World Competition of 2015, plans to volunteer at Savanna la Mar General Hospital in Westmoreland, Jamaica. She will join the president of United Missions of Goodwill (UMG), an organization based in the United States, Lorna L. Rawle, a Jamaican-born registered nurse specializing in anesthesiology, and a team comprising 25 health care professionals that includes surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, nurse anesthetists, and surgical technicians who will provide services at the hospital between May 2 and May 6, 2016. Dr. Myrie said it was an “immense honor” to participate in the initiatives with MGW. Dr. Myrie’s family heritage is in Westmoreland and she welcomes the chance to combine her passions for medicine with her Miss Jamaica World duties. Rawle has headed six medical missions to Jamaica since 2012 and has been a missionary since 2003.
