Jamaican Minister of Education Ruel Reid told an audience at the 2016 Ambassadors Installation Luncheon at the University of the West Indies that he plans to establish a national values and attitudes committee. Ruel will head the committee, with Rev. Ronald Thwaites, the Opposition spokesperson on education acting as co-chair. Reid believes the support of all of Jamaican society is required to put the country in a position that can change the attitudes and behaviors of individuals and groups in a positive way. The committee is part of Reid’s efforts in taking personal responsibility for transforming Jamaica. The changes Jamaica needs to transform Jamaican society can only come about by changing the national mindset, says Reid.
