In the 1960s, Beat Street was the heart of reggae and roots music. It currently offers this restaurant that provides very health cuisine that follows the strict Rasta dietary law. Try the fresh guava juice and vegetarian ital stew with plantains. Located on Orange Street in Kingston, the mission of this restaurant is to “grow what we eat and eat what we grow.” The produce provided here comes either from a garden behind the restaurant or from local vendors who have a personal relationship with the owner, who is known as the Spicemaster and who wants to provide diners with an experience, not just a meal. Try bulga rice, guava or soursop juice, and of course, the ital stew.
