Day 60 of 365 Things to Do, See & Eat in Jamaica – The Pudding Man: Eat a Perfect Jamaican Sweet Potato Pudding

Don’t miss the chance to eat the world’s most perfect sweet potato pudding at the Just Coool Grocery, Green Grocery and Variety Store near Priory east of St. Ann’s Bay. You can find the scrumptious treat on the way from Ocho Rios to Montego Bay. The store’s owner, Edgar Wallace aka the Pudding Man, oversees the production of the puddings, slow-cooked in foil and Dutch pots over coals on iron pedestals. The tasty pudding are made fresh daily. There is sweet potato and cornmeal puddings available. There’s a 20-minute wait for the sweet potato pudding, but it is definitely worth it. The slices are “ginourmous”. The Grocery also features other great Jamaican dishes including toto, okra, ackee & salt fish and callaloo.
