Jamaican Honored by NYC Council for Work in Journalism, Community Development

Jamaican, Patrick Maitland, journalist and Caribbean community leader, was honored by the New York City Council for his exceptional work. Also honored at a ceremony in Manhattan’s City Hall were Councilmen Humane Williams, Andy King Robert Cornegy, Herman Hall, and Bharati Kemraj. In bestowing the honors, the Council noted the “great pleasure” it had celebrating Caribbean NYC and the culture and heritage of the Caribbean countries. The Council is the entity that makes the laws for the City of New York, monitors the workings and performance of city agencies, makes decisions about land usage, and has total responsibility for approving New York City’s budget.
