Jamaican Usain Bolt, the nine-time Olympic gold medal champion, plans to retire from athletics after the world championships in 2017, but he has decided he will train with the Borussia Dortmund Bundesliga football team. The team’s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke says he is “delighted” and views Bolt’s participation as an honor. Bolt and Dortmund have the same sponsor, Puma, a sporting goods firm based in Germany. The president of Puma contacted the Dortmund team to inform them that Bolt asked about training with them. Bjorn Gulden, CEO of Puma is a member of the Dortmund board and communicated the interest Bolt had shown in practicing with the team. According to Watzke, this presents no problem, and the coach Thomas Tuchel also favors the idea. The team expects Bolt to join them in the pre-season.
